Environment Day - Seminar on Urban Forestry & Tree Planting Drive

The CTI organised a seminar on Urban Forestry named "Nagaravanangal Shrishtikkam" for the Bhoomitrasena club members as part of Environment Day celebrations. The program instilled awareness about the importance of urban forestry concepts like Miyawaki forest, Pachathuruthu initiatives of Kerala, model fruit forest, and sacred grove conservation. Dr. Jamaludheen V., Dr. Shine G., and Dr. Niyas P., faculties from the College of Forestry handled the sessions. 

The valedictory session was inaugurated by Dr. Sakeer Hussain A, Registrar, KAU, who also launched the tree planting drive by planting fruit trees. Nearly 50 Bhoomitrasena club members attended the program.Dr. Jayasree Krishnankutty, Director of Extension, said that urban forests would help to build economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable, resilient cities.  The participants were delighted with the pro-environmental educational experience. Dr. S. Helen, Professor & Head, and Dr. Darsana S, Assistant Professor, Central Training Institute, Mannuthy, also gave their remarks during the seminar.
